I am quite bored here, with so little to do. Perhaps, should anyone in Spero desire friendly company, I could be of service? Nothing with the strings attached, as they say; perhaps a talk on the roof of a building in the starlight or a meeting over lunch or dinner.
--Despite how terrible the food is here, anyway. It is just a little better than starvation... [Something in his tone says he's not sure how sincere that statement is.]
Oh! Speaking of disgusting food, I have a story to tell you. It features a then small nation by the name of Angleterre. You would know him as Arthur Kirkland! Or that irritable Englishman with the caterpillars above his eyes.
Anyway, this little one was uncouth, unwashed and uncultured. Such a small angry thing! But he secretly desired that he could be as cultured as... me! It took months, but he grew out his mangy hair.
It looked something like here.

[Not an IC cut. He's holding up a wad of fur. Don't ask him where he got it.] It looked like that, except it obscured his features and he looked wild!
I came to visit him and in my graciousness, returned his hair to the way it suits him; the way it is today! He could have chosen something much better, I assure you my sense of style is not limited to that kind of mop. But it is the one he wanted, and he has kept it ever since!
[Like the jerk he is, he repeats this ENTIRE MESSAGE in TEXT so everyone can read it.]

Date: 2011-08-01 07:38 pm (UTC)I will need a pair of scissors soon enough, however, if for myself. The resources for bathing here are so lacking.

Date: 2011-08-01 07:43 pm (UTC)Tell me about it. I was only to bring one razor with me on this trip. Sunao's a little drained, but there should be enough clean water around at least.

Date: 2011-08-01 08:25 pm (UTC)Eh, there's nothing wrong with a bit of hair on one's face. It looks distinguished! In fact, there's nothing wrong with a bit of hair. It's more natural.

Date: 2011-08-01 08:38 pm (UTC)Oh, of course I agree, eh? No fuzz at all is never my style, but a full out beard in this heat is just a nuisance.
no subject
Date: 2011-08-01 09:00 pm (UTC)Euh! I could not suffer a full beard. No, it is out of the question. There is such a thing as too much hair, such as on those from the southern parts of Europe.

Date: 2011-08-01 09:17 pm (UTC)Ah, exactly yes. Vista can talk all he wants about a full head and chest of hair, but just this works for me.

Date: 2011-08-01 10:53 pm (UTC)Modern style dictates a more chic and refined look! These things change with not just the decade but the year, as we've already discussed. Ah, to indulge in modern fashion again, even here! The same applies to architecture, but for that I am less passionate. Wonderful were the days when great engineers would design ornate edifices all across my landscape, and artisans would turn dreams into genius reality.
If only we could do such things for Spero and the other cities.

Date: 2011-08-02 11:42 pm (UTC)And, if you know someone who can work and smith metal, please tell me.
no subject
Date: 2011-08-03 01:28 am (UTC)Hm... metal. Not off the top of my head. [Starts listing people off his fingers.] Kaitou, the trolls, Sunao, Gakupo, Cube, eh, I've got nothing.
What are you looking for?
no subject
Date: 2011-08-03 03:50 am (UTC)Mm, metalwork. A blacksmith, someone who can work iron and steel.

Date: 2011-08-03 03:58 am (UTC)Aye, that, but what would you have them make? You might be able to scavenge it around the city?
no subject
Date: 2011-08-03 10:03 pm (UTC)Anything! Armor, bullets, knives, swords, nails and reinforcement for ships!
no subject
Date: 2011-08-03 10:28 pm (UTC)A lot of that you can probably find around the city. The latter you can check the lumber yard, that's where I tried to get most of the supplies for Ace when he was repairing the Weather Hardy.

Date: 2011-08-04 01:28 am (UTC)The world fell into darkness. Things were forgotten for centuries; mankind regressed into, ah, what they had been over a thousand years before. There was war, attempts to reclaim what had been lost.
An entire population becomes illiterate and destitute, and plagues and disease sweep the continent. If that is not dark...
